Build It Yourself
DIY Building
People with little or no building experience can lay Stumbelbloc after only limited training. Here is how a wall goes up.
Six simple steps
From foundation to roof height in a day
- 01
Set out & lay the base course
Mark your foundation and lay the first course of blocks level. This bottom course is the reference for the whole wall.
- 02
Interlock the blocks
Each block slots precisely onto the one below. The interlocking ribs keep every course straight and square automatically.
- 03
Bond with BlockGrip
Apply a thin bead of BlockGrip adhesive instead of mortar beds. One kilogram bonds up to 500 blocks.
- 04
Run services through the cavities
Feed electrical cable and plumbing through the built-in block cavities — no chasing walls afterwards.
- 05
Build up to roof height
Continue coursing up. A 3m x 4m room reaches roof height in a single day with a small team.
- 06
Fix openings & finish
Openings under 1.5m need no lintels. Finish the walls as you would any block wall.
